Karachi to Get City’s Largest Bird Aviary — Location & Details

Mayor Murtaza Wahab has launched a Rs200 million conservation project that will see the construction of the largest bird aviary in Karachi, Kidney Hill Park. The proposed 1.5 acre urban forest reclamation is also supposed to improve eco-tourism and wildlife conservation and it is a huge step towards sustainable recreation in the largest metropolitan city in Pakistan.

In Kidney Hill Park, Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab just laid the foundation stone for a massive new bird aviary. The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) is investing Rs200 million into this project. It feels like a turning point for the city’s green spaces.

The Mayor shared his vision for bird conservation and tourism in Karachi during the ceremony. This aviary isn’t just a cage; it is a 40-foot-high structure spanning 1.5 acres. The park is also on the forefront of sustainability besides wildlife. It is currently the first solar-powered park in Karachi with all the operations being carried out using clean energy. This is a step towards the eco-friendly global cities.

KMCs are also modernizing the lion enclosures and reptile houses within the Karachi Zoo. These measures enhance the experience of the visitors and also the welfare of animals.
