The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a severe weather alert for Karachi, predicting heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder on Sunday. The city has already been experiencing intermittent rain in various areas, including Sharea Faisal, Malir, MA Jinnah Road, Saddar, and the Old City.
According to the PMD, the south-western wind is blowing at 11 kilometers per hour, with a maximum temperature of 32°C expected for the day. The humidity level in the morning was recorded at 85%.
The Met Office had previously forecast multiple spells of heavy rain for Karachi from August 4 to 7. The city could witness rainfall ranging from 40mm to 60mm, with some areas potentially experiencing record-breaking rainfall of 100mm.
Karachi has been under the grip of monsoon rains for the past few days, with heavy showers causing waterlogging in low-lying areas on July 31.
