Karachi Weather Update Today: Braces for Intense Heatwave

Karachi, Pakistan, is set to endure scorching temperatures in the upcoming days, as forecasted by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD). Expectations include a surge in temperatures ranging from 40 to 42 degrees Celsius, signaling the onset of a severe heatwave.

Sardar Sarfaraz, Chief of the Meteorological Department, has highlighted the city’s impending struggle with hot and humid conditions for at least the next ten days. The maximum temperatures are expected to peak around 36 degrees Celsius, amplifying discomfort for residents.

Unfortunately, relief in the form of rainfall seems unlikely during this period. Winds are currently blowing at 11 kilometers per hour, contributing to a humidity level of 70%, which will further intensify the heat index.

Weather analyst Jawwad Memon acknowledges that evenings may bring marginal relief, albeit with partly cloudy skies persisting. However, the looming threat extends beyond Karachi, with the PMD warning of a nationwide heatwave expected to affect various parts of Pakistan.

While Islamabad has experienced temporary respite due to recent rains, the Director General of the Meteorology Department, Mahr Sahibzad Khan, cautions that scorching conditions are anticipated in the days ahead. This year’s increased rainfall, particularly in Sindh and Balochistan, is also anticipated to impact overall weather patterns.

In light of these forecasts, experts advise residents to take proactive measures, including wearing protective gear and staying adequately hydrated, to mitigate the adverse effects of the impending heatwave.
