RAWALPINDI: The appellate court had disqualified Khaqan Abbasi to contest election under Article 62(1)(f).
Shahid Khaqan Abbasi’s nomination papers from NA-57 Murree were accepted by the returning officer. However; PTI member Mansoor Abbasi had challenged the RO’s decision to accept the nomination.
The challenge petition stated that the former PM had misstated his assets in the nomination. He also accused the PML-N leader of doing forgery in his property papers.
The case was under hearing in Appellate tribunal, Rawalpindi, untill Monday when Judge reserved his verdict.
Yesterday the judge announced his verdict rejecting the nomination of the former Premier. Later on in the written statement it was said that the Abbasi was disqualified under Article 62(1)(f).
The statement reads that the former premier is not “Sadiq” and “Ameen”, therefore he is not qualified to be elected as a member of National Assembly.
However; Abbasi has said that he will challenge the verdict of the tribunal claiming he has given the proper details of his assets.
He said that he has mentioned the price of the property as his Murree property as his father had bought it in 1974.
He added that he was disqualified on the market value of the asset.
