In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, districts such as Buner, Swat, Bajaur, and Shangla have faced the highest number of casualties. A rescue helicopter crash during relief operations in Bajaur added to the losses. Over 1,500 have been rescued in the country and thousands have been displaced because of destruction of houses, roads, and bridges.
The government officials have declared compensation to the affected people and disciplinary action against government officials involved in failures of response.
