Mayor of Karachi, Barrister Murtaza Wahab, announced that these major roads will equipped with solar energy systems, significantly reducing electricity costs and promoting environmental sustainability. The initiative doesn’t stop there; KMC plans to extend the solar conversion to an additional 103 major roads across the city.

Murtaza Wahab emphasized that the funds saved from reduce electricity bills will redirected towards developmental projects within Karachi. This initiative not only aims to cut down on energy expenses but also to enhance the city’s infrastructure and public services.

In a pioneering effort, orders have issued to convert the KMC head office to solar energy as well. This transition will make KMC’s head office the first municipal council building in the country to operate entirely on solar power, setting a precedent for other government offices to follow.
