In a significant move, the interim government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has declared a strategic plan for the upcoming General Elections on 8th February 2024. Teachers and staff from the Elementary and Secondary Education Department have been actively engaged in preparations for this crucial event.
To facilitate the electoral process, the KP Education Department issued a notification on Thursday, announcing special elections holidays for schools, colleges, and universities across the province from February 6th to 9th. This decision aligns with the government’s commitment to ensuring a smooth and efficient voting experience.
Anticipating the high stakes of the elections, the authorities have also declared a public holiday for Kashmir Day on February 5th. Following this, the election holidays will be observed from February 6th to 9th, creating a dedicated period for citizens to focus on civic responsibilities.
In a synchronized effort across the country, schools, colleges, and higher educational institutions in Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, and other regions will also observe holidays as announced by their respective provincial administrations.
A detailed notification from the KP Education Department stated, “The Competent Authority has been pleased to notify the vacations from 6th to 9th February 2024 for all Public and Private Educational Institutions throughout the province.” This strategic move is in response to the establishment of polling stations within school premises, underscoring the significance of the educational sector in the democratic process.
As the election fervor subsides, educational institutions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are set to reopen on February 12th, marking the end of a week-long hiatus.
