KPK Flood Relief 2024: Free House Essentials & Cash for Affected Families

In the wake of recent natural disasters in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has issued an urgent directive for immediate relief to the affected populace. The province has been grappling with the aftermath of heavy rains, flash floods, and landslides.

The Chief Minister, after a comprehensive briefing on the extent of the devastation, instructed the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) to expedite relief services. In addition to providing essential items, he emphasized the need for food distribution among the victims.

The PDMA reported that the severe weather conditions over the past five days have resulted in landslides, leading to the unfortunate loss of 35 lives and injuring 43 others. The natural calamity has also inflicted significant damage to the infrastructure, partially damaging 346 houses and completely destroying 46.

In response to the crisis, the Chief Minister has ordered the PDMA to extend financial assistance to the families of the deceased and injured. The PDMA has already begun distributing food and financial aid cheques to the victims in various regions including Charsada, Lower Dir, Upper Dir, Malakand, Mohmand, Bannu, Khyber, Bajur, Naushehra, and Peshawar.

The relief package distributed by the PDMA comprises blankets, quilts, gas cylinders, water coolers, kitchen sets, health kits, and sand bags among other items. In a bid to restore normalcy, the Chief Minister has also instructed the relevant authorities to reopen all closed routes and roads without delay.
