Lahore’s metro bus service has resumed partially, but with limited routes, according to the Punjab Mass Transit Authority. The service is currently operational between Gajjumata and MAO College Chowk, while the stretch from MAO to Shahdara remains closed due to security concerns, said the General Manager of Metro Bus Operations.
The restricted routes are a precautionary measure, the authority confirmed, as the city continues to manage heightened safety protocols. Despite the partial closure of the metro service, regular traffic flow is being maintained across several key areas. Ravi Bridge, Old Ravi Bridge, Sagian Ravi Bridge, Thokar Niaz Baig, Multan Road, Raiwind Road, and Ferozepur Road are all open for commuters, according to a Lahore Traffic Police spokesperson.
Data Darbar, Azadi Chowk, and Shahdara have also seen some relief, with containers and trucks being removed to allow limited vehicle movement, DIG Operations Lahore stated. However, barriers and containers remain on standby for quick deployment if needed.
The situation on major highways is less favorable. The Motorway and Eastern Bypass at Babu Sabu interchange are still completely closed. Lahore Ring Road has also been shut down at all interchanges, leaving commuters with limited alternatives.
Police personnel continue to monitor key entry and exit points across the city to ensure safety and manage potential disruptions. Residents are advised to stay updated on traffic conditions and plan their routes accordingly.
While life in the city shows signs of normalization, the lingering restrictions reflect an ongoing focus on maintaining public safety.
