Lahore, Pakistan – In a groundbreaking move to enhance the efficiency of the driving license issuance process, the e-Khidmat Markaz at Arfa Software Technology Park (ASTP) has unveiled the new Driving Test Service as part of the ongoing Online Driving License initiative. This pilot project, a collaboration between the Punjab Traffic Police and the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), marks a significant step toward revolutionizing the way citizens obtain their driving licenses.
The initial stage of this comprehensive plan has been rolled out at the e-Khidmat Centre ASTP, with future plans to extend this innovative facility to all e-Khidmat Marakiz across Punjab. A strategic meeting was conducted to ensure the seamless integration of Driving Test Services into the existing e-Khidmat framework.
Prior to this, the caretaker government had introduced various online facilities to simplify the process of obtaining a driving license. Notably, citizens can now renew their learner’s permits from the comfort of their homes, reducing the rush at Facilitation Centers by an impressive 90%, as announced by the Lahore Traffic Police.
Furthermore, as part of recent developments, higher driving license fees have been officially implemented by the provincial authorities. According to a statement by the Lahore Traffic Police, citizens can now acquire their car and motorcycle learner’s permit for a nominal fee of Rs. 500, valid for up to five years.
This initiative not only aligns with the broader vision of digitizing public services but also underscores the commitment of local authorities to make the entire process more accessible and convenient for residents. As Lahore embraces this technological leap in driving license issuance, the Online Driving Test Service is poised to become a cornerstone in the city’s efforts to modernize and streamline administrative processes. Stay tuned for further updates as this pioneering initiative unfolds across the province.
