In a recent development, the Lahore High Court (LHC) has extended the operational hours for eateries in Punjab’s capital during the sacred month of Ramadan 2024. Justice Shahid Karim of the LHC has given the green light for restaurants to remain open from Iftar till Sehri, breaking away from the previous 10 pm closure rule.
In addition to this, the high court has passed its verdict on anti-smog petitions. Schools have been instructed to allocate one day per week for practical classes and provide a report on the curriculum.
In an effort to combat pollution, the government has disconnected power supply to factories involved in tyre burning, as reported by the government’s legal representative.
Furthermore, the LHC has imposed restrictions on the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) officials against tree felling in the city. They are required to seek approval from the Punjab Healthcare Commission (PHC) before proceeding with any tree-cutting activities.
