Lahore, the vibrant heart of Punjab province, poised for the upcoming general elections with a meticulously crafted traffic plan to ensure seamless movement on polling day. City Traffic Officer Amara Athar unveiled the strategic blueprint aimed at easing congestion and facilitating voters’ access to polling stations across the city.
To streamline traffic flow, designated parking areas will established at a minimum distance of 200 yards from crucial thoroughfares leading to polling stations. This measure aims to minimize disruptions and maintain smooth vehicular movement, ensuring citizens can reach their voting destinations without hassle.
Emphasizing the commitment of law enforcement agencies, CTO Amara Athar assured full cooperation from district police and other authorities to guarantee the peaceful conduct of the electoral process. Every rank, from constables to the CTO herself, will be on the ground, ready to assist and guide citizens throughout the day.
Under the vigilant supervision of SPs Sohail Fazil, Shehzad Khan, and Malik Ikram, a total of 320 A-category and 1248 B-category polling stations will meticulously monitored. This robust oversight aims to uphold the integrity of the electoral process and ensure fairness.
Highlighting the deployment strategy, Athar outlined a comprehensive workforce comprising 12 DSPs, 500 senior wardens, over 3,000 wardens, and 136 lady wardens. Collaborating seamlessly with district police, these dedicated personnel will play a pivotal role in managing traffic and maintaining order on polling day.
In addition to manpower, a fleet of 20 tow trucks and 4 breakdown vehicles will strategically positioned in shifts to promptly address any traffic-related issues that may arise. This proactive approach underscores Lahore’s commitment to efficient traffic management and facilitating civic participation in the democratic process.
