Maleeha Lodhi, Pakistan’s permanent representative to the United Nations said today, disputes of Palestine and Kashmir need solutions in accordance with the UN Security Council resolutions.
Lodhi while giving an address to a debate in the UN today said that UN needs to end selectivity in implementing its resolutions on long standing disputes, specially the dispute of Kashmir and Palestine.
She said that there is no peace without justice adding the security council should be fair and unbiased.
Maleeha Lodhi also said in her address that the world today is hardly at peace. She said true peace can never be attained as long as people are denied their rights.
Lodhi added that the council’s failure to address these omissions and breaches, is the compromise of authority of its decisions.
Maleeha further stated that the UN is a body that needs to reflect a body that is democratic, representative, accountable, transparent and efficient.
Pakistan has raised the issue of Kashmir and Palestine on many international forums. But the world countries and leaders seem to turn a blind eye towards the atrocities towards these people.
