Mamnoon Hussain postponed foreign trip for PM oath taking ceremony


Islamabad: President Mamnoon Hussain postponed his foreign tour for the oath taking ceremony for Prime Minister.

According to sources, Caretaker Law and Information Minister Ali Zafar convinced Mamnoon Hussain to postpone the foreign trip so the next Prime Minister can take the oath. However, he was scheduled to visit Scotland from 16th August to 19th August.

Yesterday, Ali Zafar met Mamnoon Hussain, a day after he forwarded summary to call National Assembly Session to the President.

However, Mamnoon Hussain approved to hold National Assembly session on August 13. He approved the summary from Caretaker Prime Minister Nasir-ul-Mulk.

In the first National Assembly session, newly elected Members of National Assembly (MNAs) will take oath of their office. In the next step, elections will be held for Speaker, Deputy Speaker, and Prime Minister. The whole process will take about 3 to 4 days. However, the process of nomination papers, their scrutiny, and the election for three crucial posts will take time.

Caretaker Minister for Information, Broadcasting and Law Barrister Ali Zafar said that according to the constitution, it was essential to call the National Assembly session before 15th August.
