LAHORE: PML-N leader, Maryam Nawaz, is owner of Rs845 million worth of assets according to details released by ECP.
Earlier on, ECP had announced they would post details of candidates online along with affidavits. This was for the voters to view the details of the candidate ahead of elections scheduled for 25th July. According to the asset details released with affidavit of Maryam Nawaz, her net worth is Rs845 million.
According to the details released by the Election Commission, she is shareholder of Chaudhry Sugar Mills Limited, Hamza Spinning Mills Limited, Muhammad Buksh Textile Mills Limited, Hudabiya Papers Mills Limited and Hudabiya Engineering Co Private Limited.
Maryam has spent Rs6.4 millions on trips abroad in just the last three years.
She also owns 1,506 kanals irrigation lands, while 548 kanals had just increased in the last 3 years. Along with that she has invested Rs3.4 million in her family owned flour mills. She has also given a loan worth Rs7 millions to a company called Soft Energy Private Limited.
Maryam also declared that she had received gifts worth Rs40 million from friends and family. She also stated that she has received a Rs20 million loan from her brother Hasan Nawaz.
Maryam is also the owner of gold and jewelry worth Rs1.7 million.
After scrutiny, the election commission cleared Maryam Nawaz to contest elections from NA-125 and PP-173 Lahore. The returning officer had dismissed all objections against Maryam’s nomination and given her a green signal to contest in elections 2018.
Previously, Nawaz Sharif had won from NA-125, previously NA-120, which is in the heart of Lahore city. After being disqualified, Begum Kulsoom had won the seat without even participating. The campaign for Begum Kulsoom was run by her daughter Maryam during her absence.
