Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has dismissed rumors regarding her health, confirming that she does not have throat cancer. Speaking at a Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) event in London alongside her father, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Maryam clarified that her recent medical evaluations revealed a condition related to her parathyroid gland, not cancer.
Maryam recently traveled to Geneva for health assessments, where she assured of her cancer-free status. She explained, “I have a parathyroid issue, which requires specialized treatment in Switzerland or the United States. I was in Geneva for check-ups, and I’m scheduled to return to Pakistan within two days.”
The chief minister also shared that she had initially chosen to keep her health concerns private but decided to address the growing public speculation. “I’ve been working tirelessly for the past eight months, and while I didn’t intend to discuss my health publicly, the recent rumors prompted me to clarify.”
During the event, Nawaz Sharif commended both his brother, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Maryam for their dedication to the country, expressing confidence in Pakistan’s trajectory toward a brighter future. Maryam, in turn, highlighted Pakistan’s recent economic advancements, mentioning record highs in the stock market and increasing national reserves. “The world is watching Pakistan and is eager to invest here. Each new day brings hope for our country’s prosperity,” she added.
