In a display of solidarity with the province’s Elite Force, Punjab’s Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz, attended their passing out parade in full uniform. The event, held in Lahore, was a testament to the force’s growth, a seed sown by her father, Nawaz Sharif, and uncle, Shehbaz Sharif.
Accompanied by PML-N leaders and Punjab IGP Usman Anwar, Maryam Nawaz, clad in the force’s black uniform, inspected the parade. The event also graced by members of her cabinet and the Punjab inspector general.
Addressing the ceremony, the Chief Minister expressed her joy at witnessing the parade. She extended her congratulations to the successful police cadets, stating her encouragement at seeing their passing out parade as the Chief Minister.
In a heartfelt address to the cadets, Maryam Nawaz declared, “I am one of you. I have come to the ceremony wearing your uniform. This is not a uniform, but an emblem of national service very few people honoured to have.”
On this occasion, she announced cash prizes for the top performers, further motivating the force. Addressing the female cadets, she acknowledged the trust their parents placed in them, dedicating their daughters to national service.
This event follows Maryam Nawaz’s previous appearance at a passing-out ceremony for women constables and traffic assistants in a Punjab police uniform, which had created quite a buzz.
As the first woman Chief Minister in Pakistan’s history, sworn in on February 26, Maryam Nawaz continues to break barriers and set new precedents.
