KARACHI: Meeting of Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee called on for evening today, Thursday, for sighting of Shawwal moon.
Chairman of Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman will be presiding over the meeting today. Evidence for the sighting of the Shawwal moon will be gathered from various parts of the country. After gathering sufficient evidence a formal announcement of Eid-ul-Fitr will be made from Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman.
Zonal Committee meetings are also called in today for sighting of Shawwal moon in other major cities of Pakistan. The zonal committees will also collect evidence after which they will report to the Central Committee.
Yesterday, a notification regarding a meeting of zonal committee in Quetta was issued. In the notification everyone was asked to ensure their attendance in the meeting.
On the other hand Pakistan Meteorological Department has said that its highly unlikely the moon of Shawwal will be visible on 14th June. The Met department has predicted that the moon of Eid-ul-Fitr will be sighted on Friday, 15th June.
According to the Met departments predictions, Eid-ul-Fitr is likely to be on 16th of June on Saturday.
Government has announced Eid-ul-Fitr holidays from 15th to 18th of June, from Friday to Monday. The announcement was made in a notification by the Ministry of Interior issued last week.
