The issue regarding the new milk price in Karachi is still present as the dairy farmers refused to sell milk on old rates.
Milk price in Karachi is still higher than the suggested price by Karachi Commissioner. However, the situation is now worsened in the city as dairy farmers associations said that they are ready for any action but will not decrease rates. On the other side, Iftikhar Shallwani, the Karachi Commissioner, decided to initiate action against those who are selling milk at increased prices.
A few days back, the milk price in Karachi was increased after the dairy farmers associations announced the per liter raise of Rs 10 in the milk rate and the Milk Retailer Association also accepted it.
Karachi’s milk supply depends on 3 associations that are Karachi Dairy and Cattle Farmers Association, Dairy Farmer Association, and Karachi Dairy Farmer Association. These associations have jointly raised the wholesale price of milk from Rs 85 to Rs 95 per liter. Now, the retail price of milk is Rs 110 per liter.
