Missing Doctor Found Dead: New Twists in Dr Warda Mushtaq Abbottabad Case

The case of Dr Warda Mushtaq, Abbottabad, has taken a tragic turn as police recovered her body from a deep ditch in Thandiani. She had been missing since last week. Police arrested three suspects, while the main accused remains at large. Conflicting claims over 67 tolas of gold added a new angle to the case.

The Dr Warda Mushtaq, Abbottabad case entered a new phase when police recovered her body from a deep ravine in the Thandiani Lari Banota area. She had been missing since Thursday. The rescue team worked for more than six hours to bring the body out due to the depth of the ditch. Police later handed the remains to her father, Mushtaq Ahmad, after the post-mortem.

Dr Warda was last seen leaving Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Hospital with her friend Rida. CCTV footage showed both women together at Jadoon Plaza. Her father said in the FIR that she wanted to collect 67 tolas of gold she had left with Rida in 2023 before leaving for Dubai. He said Rida avoided returning the gold after her return.

Rida told police a different story. She said she returned the gold to Dr Warda at Jadoon Plaza. She claimed the doctor owed her Rs 8.3 million and had given her five bank cheques.

Police registered a case under Section 365 of the PPC. Three suspects have been arrested: Rida, her husband Waheed Ahmad, and the driver of Dr Warda. The Dr Warda Mushtaq, Abbottabad investigation continues as the main accused remains missing. DPO Haroon Rasheed said initial findings show that Rida lured the doctor to an under-construction building at Jadoon Plaza. She then handed her over to the abductors, identified as Shamraiz, Nadeem, and Pervez, before leaving the place.

The case triggered strong public reaction. Doctors and hospital staff protested outside the hospital and blocked the Karakoram Highway. They demanded quick arrests and a fair investigation into the death of Dr Warda Mushtaq.

The police team has expanded the search for the remaining suspects as the investigation moves forward.
