Mobile Service in Lahore Suspended Ahead of PML (N) Rally


Mobile service in Lahore suspended temporarily due to the rally of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz today.

PML (N) has organized a peaceful rally to welcome Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz on their return to homeland and begin their jail sentence.

Punjab government has requested Ministry of Interior Affairs to suspend mobile service in Lahore, especially in crucial areas like those surrounding Lahore airport, Shahdar, Nawab Town, Walled city, Hadiara etc.

It was later announced that the mobile service in Lahore will remain suspended from 3pm to 11pm. However, the reports of mobile services and internet being down have started emerging from a few areas.

Roadblocks on Nawaz, Maryam Arrival

PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif has urged party workers to conduct a peaceful march to welcome Nawaz and Maryam today.  Crackdown against party workers continues across Punjab where dozens of PML (N) workers and leaders have been arrested.

Former state minister for education and interior Balighur Rehman from Bahawalpur, and party leader Javed Gorchani in Rajanpur have been arrested.

PML-N workers were stopped at Sahiwal and Faisalabad, and they have started to walk on foot to their destination.

Section 144 has been instated across Punjab which has restricted the gathering of 10 or more people at a place.

Lahore traffic police have issued a special plan so general public do not get caught up in the PML-N rally.

Heavy contingent of police officers has been deployed outside the Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore, and containers have been placed at various locations.

A vehicle for prisoners has already been parked near Ravi Toll Plaza.
