Prime Minister Imran Khan assures Qadri, Victims of Model Town Victims Will Get Justice
On Tuesday, Prime Minister Imran Khan assured the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri that justice will prevail for the victims of the 2014 Model Town incident.
PM Imran Khan and PAT chief talked via a telephone call, a day after the High Court of Lahore (LHC) refused to act on a petition to call upon the former prime minister, Nawaz Sharif and former Punjab chief minister Shehbaz Sharif for the Model Town case.
“We cannot allow those who killed innocent civilians to escape justice,” the current PM quoted while telling the PAT chief.
“We will not any compromise on the implementation of law,” he added.
While promising to bring all the guilty individuals to court without discrimination, PM Imran stated, “Immediate justice in civil and criminal cases is one of the top priorities of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government.”
PAT chief in response replied, “PM Imran has given a ray of hope to the families of the Model Town victims.”
Qadri also thanked the Prime minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan and said, “PM Imran’s vision for upholding the law is commendable.”
On the 17th of June 2014, at least 14 people were killed and 100 others injured in police action against Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) workers in Lahore’s Model Town area during an ‘anti-encroachment operation’.
