In a tech-savvy move ahead of the 2024 general elections, Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) has rolled out a cutting-edge solution for voters in Karachi – the ‘digital polling card.’ The MQM-P’s IT wing has launched the “My Voter” mobile application, aimed at simplifying the voting process for its supporters.
This innovative application grants voters access to a digital polling card, containing all necessary details, simply by entering their CNIC number. MQM-P’s commitment to embracing technology underscores its dedication to facilitating a smoother electoral experience.
Before this technological leap, MQM-P diligently shortlisted 200 candidates for the upcoming general elections in 2024. The parliamentary board meticulously interviewed over 600 candidates in two phases, ultimately narrowing down the selection to the final 200.
Sources reveal that the parliamentary board will soon transmit the list of candidates to the Rabita Committee for further deliberation. To ensure transparency and fairness, the last date for appeals against decisions made by Returning Officers set for January 10, 2024. A revised list of candidates will unveiled on January 11, with the official publication slated for January 12.
The election timeline continues with the allocation of election symbols to candidates on January 13, culminating in the much-anticipated polling day on February 08, 2024. It’s noteworthy that this election program extends to seats reserved for women and non-Muslims in the National Assembly and provincial assemblies across Punjab, Sindh, KP, and Balochistan provinces.
MQM-P’s proactive approach to harnessing technology and ensuring a transparent electoral process heralds a new era in Pakistani politics, promising a seamless and inclusive voting experience for citizens.
