NAB asks more time in Nawaz Sharif’s plea against Avenfield Verdict

National Accountability Bureau (NAB), today asked 2 more days from Islamabad High Court (IHC) to present arguments regarding petition from Nawaz Sharif and his family against the Avenfield verdict.

NAB requests IHC to provide 2 more days to submit detailed arguments against Nawaz Sharif’s plea to suspend Avenfield verdict.

IHC today resumed the hearing of plea against Avenfield Verdict filed by Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz, and Captain (retd) Safdar.


Yesterday, IHC dismissed NAB’s plea to adjourn the hearing for 2 days of Nawaz Sharif’s petition against the Avenfield verdict. Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb and Justice Athar Minallah are the IHC bench members who heard the case yesterday. However, they resumed the hearing today.

The Avenfield Reference verdict came against Nawaz Sharif and his family. The Accountability Court sentenced the imprisonment of 10, 7, and 1 year to Nawaz, Maryam, and Captain Safdar (retd) respectively. The court also fined Nawaz Sharif and Maryam 8 million and 2 million Pounds respectively. All three leaders later moved to Adiala Jail Rawalpindi.
