Islamabad: NAB has ordered the inquiry about the alleged money laundering of $4.9 billion to India by former PM Nawaz Sharif and others.
The NAB statement revealed that NAB Chairman, Javed Iqbal, took the notice of media report about the alleged money laundering. Earlier, a media report highlighted the money laundering case present in World Bank’s Migration and Remittance Book 2016. However, the media report details did not present in the statement.
The NAB press release elaborated that Pakistan suffered huge losses due to the money laundering. However, Indian foreign exchange reserves have seen a significant increase after the money laundered to the Indian finance ministry.
Nawaz Sharif is facing three other corruption cases in NAB. However, it is due to the Supreme Court’s decision in the Panama Papers case.
