NAB to File Reference Against Shehbaz By the End of November, Says Officials
On Thursday, the director general (DG) of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in Lahore stated that a corruption reference is to be filed against Shahbaz Sharif, leader of the Opposition party in National Assembly by the end of November.
Shehzad Saleem, the DG of NAB Lahore said during an interview.
“We have found evidence on the basis of which we are filing a reference against Shehbaz Sharif,” he said.
The president of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) was arrested last month by the NAB for the Ashiana Iqbal housing scheme case on October 6. Shehbaz was made to appear before the anti-graft body to record his statement in Punjab Saaf Pani Company case.
While speaking of a case against Shehbaz’s son-in-law, Ali Imran, the DG of NAB alleged Imran of submitting official cheques in his personal account.
“Ali Imran left the country some 2, 3 months ago. Imran will be answering before the anti-graft body when he returns to the country,” Saleem said.
“Every day a fire erupts at public buildings, this is how records are destroyed,” Saleem added.
