In a bid to enhance public convenience and expedite the process of obtaining CNICs (Computerized National Identity Cards) and passports, the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) is set to establish passport counters in 30 tehsils across Pakistan. This significant move comes as per the directive of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, aimed at making passport services easily accessible to the public.
The initiative will cover various regions, including Lahore, Karachi, Multan, Sargodha, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), and Islamabad. The Passport and Immigration Department will operate these counters, with a strong focus on facilitating citizens and streamlining the passport application process. In addition to the government fees, NADRA will charge a nominal fee of Rs1,000 per passport.
This strategic decision will eliminate the need for individuals to travel long distances to avail passport services. By establishing passport counters in multiple tehsils, NADRA aims to bring convenience to the doorsteps of Pakistani citizens. This step aligns perfectly with the government’s commitment to providing improved services to its people, as evidenced by the successful launch of an online passport fee payment app in November of last year.
The establishment of these passport counters in various tehsils is a proactive measure by NADRA, reflecting the government’s determination to streamline administrative procedures and foster efficiency. With easier access to passport services, citizens can now navigate the application process more conveniently, saving time and effort. This progressive move not only supports the aspirations of the public but also enhances the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the passport issuance system in Pakistan.
