The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) announced the establishment of three new mega centers in Karachi. The new centers are located in Malir Cantt, Malir, and Surjani Town, and are now part of NADRA’s broader expansion plan to improve public access to identity documentation services across the city.
The action supposed to decrease the number of people crowding the current offices of NADRA in Karachi by providing services related to identity in high-capacity centers also. As the population in Karachi steadily increases, such centers anticipated to receive huge number of applications related to the issuance of Computerized National Identity Cards (CNICs), Child Registration Certificates (CRCs) and Family Registration Certificates (FRCs).
The new NADRA mega centers in Karachi will provide the following services:
- Issuance and renewal of CNICs
- Processing of CRCs for children under and over the age of three
- Family Registration Certificates for inheritance and other legal uses
- Corrections and categorization in FRCs
- Support for married women to choose father’s or husband’s name on CNICs
- Voluntary return of illegally obtained CNICs without immediate legal action
NADRA Mega Centers Timings and Operations
While specific operating hours were not shared, existing NADRA mega centers in Karachi typically operate 24/7 or for extended hours, such as 8 AM to 12 AM, offering flexible access to the public.
NADRA confirmed that service fees at the new mega centers will remain the same as those at existing offices and the Pak ID online portal. The pricing structure is unchanged across both online and physical services.
Karachi previously had over 20 NADRA centres, including mega centers in DHA, North Nazimabad, and Safoora Chowrangi. The launch of new mega centers further strengthens NADRA’s Karachi network. The Safoora center, opened in May 2024, already features enhanced infrastructure such as air-conditioned halls, dedicated parking, and automated counters.
