NADRA Services in Post Office Officially Discontinued Across Pakistan

NADRA services in post offices have officially come to an end as the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) announced the closure of all CNIC-related facilities at General Post Offices (GPOs) nationwide. This move comes after low public engagement and limited awareness regarding the service.

According to official sources, NADRA services in post office were introduced around three years ago through a partnership with Pakistan Post. The aim was to make key identification services easily accessible to the public through designated counters at major city GPOs, including Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad.

The services offered included the renewal of CNICs, address changes, and updates to marital status. These efforts were part of a 10-year agreement with Pakistan Post and initially helped reduce the rush at NADRA’s main centers.

Despite these benefits, the project did not gain widespread attention or usage. NADRA officials stated that the limited success of the initiative was largely due to inadequate public awareness and minimal promotion of the service.

Now, with the formal announcement of its closure, NADRA has directed all staff stationed at GPO counters to return equipment and deposit any collected service fees. This decision has impacted about 83 counters across all four provinces and Azad Kashmir.

Many citizens who occasionally used NADRA services in post office may now have to rely solely on NADRA service centers for their CNIC-related needs.
