NADRA Updates B-Form with New Security Features

The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has launched an updated version of the B Form (Registration Certificate) for children aged 10 and above, integrating advanced security features to enhance data protection and curb identity-related crimes. This move is a significant step towards safeguarding the personal information of minors.

The updated B Form will now include both photographs and fingerprint impressions of applicants, making it more secure and difficult to misuse. This change follows directives from the Interior Minister, Mohsin Naqvi, who emphasized the importance of revising the format to protect children from identity fraud, fake identity card issuance, illegal passport procurement, and human trafficking.

Key Changes in the Updated B-Form

  1. Photographs and Fingerprints: Children aged 10 years and above will now be required to provide photographs and thumb impressions when applying for the new B Form. These added security features are designed to improve the authenticity of the registration data and make it harder for criminals to exploit the system.
  2. Parents or Guardians Involvement: To ensure the authenticity of the registration process, parents or legal guardians must accompany their child to the NADRA center with the child’s original birth certificate when applying for the updated B Form.
  3. Implications for Passport Applications: The new B Form will be mandatory for children between the ages of 10 and 18 when applying for a passport. The older version of the B Form, which does not include photographs or fingerprints, will no longer be accepted for this age group.

A Step Towards Preventing Identity Theft and Crime

The Interior Minister highlighted that these updated features are an essential part of the government’s efforts to prevent crimes related to the illegal use of personal data. With the new security features in place, NADRA aims to significantly reduce incidents of child identity theft, fraudulent passport applications, and human trafficking.

How to Apply for the New B Form

Parents or guardians can visit their nearest NADRA center to apply for the new B Form for children aged 10 and above. The process will require both the child’s original birth certificate and the presence of the child at the center for photographs and thumb impressions to be taken.

The introduction of the updated B Form is part of NADRA’s ongoing commitment to improving national security and ensuring that children’s personal information is well-protected against misuse.
