Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s Babar Awan, former prime minister Raja Pervez Ahsraf, and five others are indicted in the Nandipur reference.
In Nandipur reference, Babar Awan, Pervez Ashraf will be indicted on Wednesday, October 24. However, the Accountability Court Judge, Muhammad Bashir is hearing the Nandipur case.
The court now decided to indict all seven accused including Babar Awan and Pervez Ashraf. However, October 24 is their indictment date and the court ordered all accused to appear during the hearing.
Prior amid the hearing, Pervez Ashraf’s lawyer presented a request for his perpetual exclusion. The court issued a notice to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on his demand.
On September 4, NAB had recorded a corruption reference against the accused.
In August, Supreme Court reopened the high profile Nandipur case and scheduled the hearing on Thursday (today). In 2005, Nandipur power project was established for the generation of 525MW electricity. Its initial cost is Rs 22 billion that was later increased by Rs 58 billion due to subsequent delays.
CJP Saqib Nisar also severely criticized the former NAB chariman for the pending inquiries. He then said that they have to analyze that who is the culprit behind the Nandipur Power Project case pending inquiries.
