ISLAMABAD: Naqeebullah Mehsud’s father is to appear before NAB Sindh to testify against Suspended SSP Rao Anwar.
A complaint was submitted to NAB by counsel of Naqeebullah’s father against Rao Anwar for having assets beyond income source. Counsel Faisal Siddiqui submitted the complaint under Section 22 of the NAB Ordinance, 1999 and Anti-Money Laundering Act, 2010.
The complaint reads that Rao Anwar being senior superintendent of police has salary of Rs113,722 on April of 2018. Anwar has made around 74 trips to Dubai since 2012 till date. It is not understandable how a person with that salary has made so many international trips. It shows that his international trips have been financed by someone else.
The complaint also mentions a news report which said Anwar was running a multibillion-rupees criminal ring from his office in Malir district. It reads that he was also head of local thugs. These thugs were part of a network involved in extorting protection money and running a numbers of rackets, smuggling Iranian petrol, narcotics and illegal water hydrants.
In the complaint submitted to NAB it says that the numerous Dubai trips might point towards money laundering. Keeping this in mind an investigation into the matter must take place.
Rao Anwar is undergoing trial in Anti-Terrorism court for the murder of Naqeebullah Mehsud. Naqeebullah was a shop owner and an aspiring model belonging to Tribal Areas of Waziristan. Anwar had murdered him in a fake encounter along with 11 of his subordinates who are also under trial.
NAB will launch an investigation into Rao Anwar and his assets once it records the statement of Naqeebullah’s Father.
