KARACHI: New Prosecutor has been appointed in Naqeebullah Murder Case as former prosecutor excused himself after receiving threats.
Naqeebullah Mehsud, who was son of a tribesman from South Waziristan, was murdered in an encounter. The encounter, which was staged, also claimed life of 3 others along with Naqeebullah. Suspended SSP Rao Anwar along with 11 others who were involved have been booked for Naqeebullah Murder Case. The central figure of the extrajudicial killing case, Rao Anwar, was first absconding. But soon afterwards he had given himself up to the authorities.
Rao Anwar and his other subordinates booked in the case appeared in Anti-Terrorism Court on Monday, today.
The prosecutor of the case, Ali Raza, excused himself from appearing in court because he was receiving threats. The prosecutor had also missed hearings in previous cases also because of the same reason.
New prosecutor Nazeer Bhangora has been appointed by the Sindh Law Department for this case.
Advocate Nadeem was also appointed by father of Naqeebullah, for appearing in his place. Naqeebullah’s Father, Khan Muhammad said that it is very difficult for him to commute to Karachi from South Waziristan for the hearings.
3 accused in the Naqeebullah Murder case named Yasin, Supurd Hussain and Khizar Hayat submitted bail plea in court. Previously suspended DSP Qamar Ahmed, a close aide of Rao Anwar, had also submitted bail application.
Pushtoon community had staged protests to receive justice in the case after Suspended SSP Rao Anwar along with 11 of his subordinates had killed Naqeebullah Mehsud along with 3 others and planted fake evidence on them claiming them to be terrorists.
