Reactions from Transporters
The increase in toll tax has been met with strong opposition from transporters. The Supreme Council of All Pakistan Transporters has labeled the hike as “unacceptable and cruel.” They argue that they are already facing significant financial challenges due to the high costs of diesel, spare parts, and tires. The additional burden of increased toll tax will exacerbate their difficulties.
In a statement, the council said, “We are struggling to cope with the high costs of diesel, spare parts, and tires, and the additional burden of increased toll tax will cause us immense hardship.”
The new toll tax rates will come into effect on July 1, 2024. Transporters and other road users are urged to prepare for these changes and adjust their budgets accordingly.
