In a fervent address at a press gathering held at Idara-e-Noor Haq, Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi, Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman, voiced strong dissent against what he termed as an unjust electoral process orchestrated by the Election Commission. Rehman lambasted the Commission’s handling of the recent elections, asserting that despite Jamaat-e-Islami’s significant popular mandate in Karachi, the victory snatched away through alleged rigging and manipulation favoring MQM.
The statistics paint a stark picture – with Jamaat-e-Islami reportedly clinching the highest votes in Karachi, the allocation of seats to MQM remains a contentious issue, with only a mere 5% of the votes going in MQM’s favor. Rehman emphasized the tangible evidence in Jamaat-e-Islami’s possession, citing Form 45 and Form 46 as irrefutable proof of their electoral triumph. The disenfranchised citizens, he noted, bewildered by the disregard for their votes despite their enthusiastic participation in the electoral process.
Vowing a vigorous response to what they perceive as electoral fraud and a violation of public trust, Jamaat-e-Islami announced plans for nationwide protests and demonstrations. Rehman questioned the rationale behind the hefty expenditure of 48 billion rupees on elections if the goal was to undermine the genuine victors.
The press conference attended by key figures within Jamaat-e-Islami, including General Secretary Munawar Zafar Khan, Deputy Amir Karachi Raja Arif Sultan, City Councilor Qazi Sadruddin, and Information Secretary Zahid Askari. Rehman concluded with a stern warning to the Election Commission, signaling an impending legal battle for constitutional rights in the face of what they perceive as electoral injustice.
