Nawaz Sharif has been allotted a ‘B’ class category in prison, and Maryam Nawaz will be kept in Adiala jail and not to be shifted to Sihala rest house on Saturday.
Nawaz Sharif and his daughter were convicted in the Avenfield Apartments reference case. They received 10 years and 8 years in prison along with heavy fines from accountability court.
Both were arrested Friday night upon their arrival in Lahore and were subsequently taken to Islamabad in a chartered flight.
The father-daughter duo were then separated and taken from the Islamabad International Airport in two convoys to the Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi.
The plan regarding Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz’s stay at Adiala jail was amended thrice. Now it is decided to allot Nawaz Sharif a ‘B’ class in Adiala jail which has facilities such as a 21-inch television, newspapers, a bed and fan.
Maryam Nawaz will remain in Adiala Jail and not in Sihala rest house, according to the sources.
A notification issued by the Islamabad administration shortly after Nawaz and Maryam were taken to Adiala Jail had declared the rest house as a sub-jail to keep the two figures, with immediate effect and until further orders.
Sources then reported that only Maryam Nawaz would be moved to the rest house. However, later sources claimed that the authorities have decided to keep both father-daughter duo at Adiala Jail for now.
Maryam Nawaz is being kept at the women’s cell in Adiala Jail.
Last night, police officials at Adiala Jail conducted the medical examination of Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz and declared them fit.
