Islamabad: Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif filed appeal against the rejection of Al Azizia and Flagship references.
PML-N Chief Nawaz Sharif filed petition related to the rejection of Flagship and Al Azizia references. However, he filed a petition to move both corruption references out of the Accountability Court. He remarked that only the High Court has a case transfer mandate and Judge Muhammad Bashir rejected the transfer petition.
Nawaz Sharif’s legal counsels argued in an appeal that Judge Muhammad Bashir already gave the Avenfield Verdict. However, remaining corruption references should be transferred to another court.
Earlier today, Sharif family filed appeal against the Avenfield verdict in Islamabad High Court. They highlighted the legal flaws in the verdict and argued for the court’s verdict to be declared void and null and the release of convicts on bail.
A few days back, Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz, and Captain (Retd) Safdar sentenced the imprisonment of 10, 7, and 1 years respectively in the Avenfield Reference. The court also fined Nawaz and Maryam 8 million and 2 million Pounds respectively. NAB also moved all three convicts to the Adiala Jail Rawalpindi where they will spend their imprisonment duration.
