Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz will be moved to Sihala rest house, sources


Islamabad: Former PM and PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz would be shifted to Sihala rest house.

According to sources, Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz will be shifted to Sihala rest house from Adiala Jail Rawalpindi. Both leaders were convicted in Avenfield reference and were arrested on July 13 on their arrival at Lahore. They then moved to Adiala Jail Rawalpindi and have since been there.

According to initial reports, arrangements were made for the shifting of both leaders are finalized. Islamabad chief commissioner already declared the Sihala Police Training College rest house in Islamabad as sub-jail.

Nawaz Sharif will not face trial in Adiala Jail as the cabinet overturned the decision of his trial within the jail premises. The cabinet meeting was held under interim PM Justice (retd) Nasir-ul-Mulk. However, it analyzed the matter of reversing of notifications issued by Ministry of Law and Justice as per NAB orders.

The Avenfield reference verdict came against Nawaz Sharif and his family. The Accountability Court sentenced the imprisonment of 10, 7, and 1 year to Nawaz, Maryam, and Captain Safdar (retd) respectively. The court also fined Nawaz Sharif and Maryam 8 million and 2 million Pounds respectively. All three leaders later moved to Adiala Jail Rawalpindi. The court aslo disqualified them from contesting Pakistan Election 2018.
