ISLAMABAD: Nawaz Sharif said he will give statement regarding NAB Chairman’s allegations and probe into money laundering by him today.
While addressing the media inside the accountability court he said that he will give a statement about the NAB probe against him. He said that he will hold a special press conference at the Punjab house for this reason.
He appreciated current Prime Minister, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi’s statement in the National Assembly about the new NAB probe. Continuing, he added that NAB is over stepping its mandate.
NAB had ordered an inquiry against Nawaz and others for allegedly laundering $4.9 billion to the rival state of India. According to NAB, the chairman took notice of a media report which made the claims citing a World Bank report.
However, the World Bank has clarified that its report doesn’t mention names or amounts neither does it allege money laundering.
He also stated that NAB laws are draconian laws made by dictators, saying he wished he had abolished them. Nawaz said while in office he was busy serving the people and maintaining law and order in the state. If he were not so busy he would have done something about these laws made by dictators.
Nawaz said that these laws have been made in the era of dictators. He added that the sooner these laws can be expunged from the constitution the better it would be.
Nawaz Sharif also sarcastically remarked that soon he will be sent notice in Titanic ship’s sinking.
Nawaz Sharif is already facing 3 cases in Accountability Court along with his family in charges of corruption.
