National Electric Power Regulatory Authority or NEPRA increased electricity prices in Pakistan.
NEPRA increased the electricity prices in Pakistan by Rs 1.16 per unit. Electricity prices increased after the approval of petition submitted by the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) under fuel adjustment. However, CPPA earlier requested the Rs 1.50 hike in electricity prices.
However, the new electricity prices in Pakistan will apply on all power distribution companies except K-Electric.
Yesterday, the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) deferred announcing hike in electricity prices in country till the next meeting. According to sources, ECC took approval from Prime Minister Imran Khan before the ECC meeting.

ECC ordered Power Division and NEPRA to present the policy for three to five years during the next meeting.
