NEPRA raises the electricity tariff for monthly fuel adjustment

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) authorized an increase in the power rate of Rs. 0.18 per unit on Tuesday owing to a monthly fuel adjustment (MFA).

Following a public hearing on a petition submitted by the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) to take into account the monthly fuel adjustment, the power tariff increase was granted (MFA). The complete verdict will be made public later.

It needs to be emphasized that lifeline and K-Electric customers will not be affected by the rise in the power tariff.

The CPPA claimed in their appeal that 29% of hydel electricity was produced in November. 12% of the power was produced using coal, and 27.94% used nuclear energy.

In addition, the CPPA’s petition said that in November, 12.09% of the energy was produced using RLNG and 14.21% was produced using gas.

A public hearing was held by NEPRA on Tuesday about KE’s proposal for a decrease of Rs. 7.04 per unit due to Fuel Charges Adjustments (FCA) for November 2022.
