The Punjab government has officially launched its electric bus service in Lahore, marking a significant step towards eco-friendly public transport. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz inaugurated the pilot project on Wednesday, with the first route operating from Railway Station to Green Town. The fare for the e-bus is set at Rs20, making it highly affordable for daily commuters.

Free Travel for Students & Senior Citizens
CM Maryam Nawaz announced free travel facilities for students, senior citizens, and differently-abled individuals on Orange Line Train, Speedo buses, and electric buses. She also revealed plans to introduce 500 more electric buses by August and expand the Metro Bus Service to Faisalabad and Gujranwala in the next financial year.
To enhance passenger comfort, mist fans will be installed at e-bus stations, along with Wi-Fi, CCTV cameras, and mobile charging ports inside the buses. She also announced the development of Pakistan’s first tram system from Thokar Niaz Beg to Harbanspura and an underground transport system in Punjab.
