In a move to provide relief to citizens, the Government of Pakistan has announced a reduction in fuel prices effective May 1, 2024. The price of petrol has been slashed by Rs5.45 per liter, from Rs293.94 to Rs288.49, while the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) has been reduced by Rs8.42 per liter, from Rs290.38 to Rs281.96.

Government Cites OGRA Recommendations
The Finance Ministry stated that the price adjustments are in accordance with the suggestions of the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA). This move is expected to provide relief to consumers and help control inflation.
Previous Price Adjustments
The federal government had previously increased the price of petrol by Rs4.53 per liter on April 15, 2024, and reduced the price of diesel by Rs3.32 per liter in the previous review.
