New Regional Passport Office Opens in Islamabad with Enhanced Facilities

The Ministry of Interior has officially launched operations at the new state-of-the-art Regional Passport Office in Islamabad. Located at the I&T Center, Plot Number 18, Sector G-10/4, the modern facility is now open to assist residents in obtaining their passports more efficiently.

State-of-the-Art Facilities

The new passport office boasts cutting-edge technology and improved amenities designed to streamline the passport application process. According to DG Passport Mustafa Kamal, the new building features modern facilities with separate counters for women and elderly citizens, ensuring a more comfortable experience for all visitors.

Digital Processing and Improved Efficiency

The office will utilize a digital system to process passport applications, significantly reducing wait times. Citizens will no longer need to stand in long queues, thanks to the implementation of an advanced digital processing system. Additionally, the appointment of extra staff will enable on-the-spot resolution of issues, further enhancing the efficiency of the service.

Addressing the Passport Crisis

In response to the ongoing passport crisis, the government has decided to invest in new laminators and printers. The acquisition includes five new Rapid Manufacturing Printers (RMPs) and two e-passport printers. These new additions expected to boost the printing capacity from 22,000 passports per day to 55,000 passports per day. The increase in capacity projected to help alleviate the current backlog, with improvements anticipated by the last week of September.

Future Upgrades and Database Enhancements

To ensure continued efficiency, the Ministry of Interior plans to purchase new printers twice a year. Additionally, a new database will developed to enhance processing speed. This database will facilitate quicker data verification from NADRA and other agencies, further improving service delivery at the passport office.

The opening of the new Regional Passport Office marks a significant step towards modernizing and improving the passport issuance process in Islamabad. With these advancements, residents can expect a more efficient and user-friendly experience when applying for passports.
