In response to the escalating heatwave, Islamabad’s educational institutions have undergone a significant schedule transformation. The federal government has announced an immediate alteration in school timings, prioritizing student and staff safety.
Schools operating on a single shift have been instructed to adjust their timings from 7am to 1pm, effective from Monday to Thursday. This decision aims to mitigate the impact of the sweltering heat on the students and staff.
For schools functioning in two shifts, the revised schedule dictates classes from 7am to 11am on Fridays and Saturdays. This immediate implementation reflects the government’s proactive approach to ensuring the wellbeing of the school community amidst the heatwave.
Mahuddin Wani, the Education Secretary, emphasized that the decision was driven by the commitment to safeguard the students and staff from the intense heat. This measure underscores the government’s dedication to prioritizing safety in educational environments.
