Newborn Baby Kidnapped from Lahore’s Jinnah Hospital, Says Police
On Thursday, authorities were sent on alert as a newborn baby girl was abducted from Lahore’s Jinnah Hospital. The newborn baby kidnapped by an unknown woman, sources report.
According to police, the newborn is the daighter of Nadeem, a resident of Kot Lakhpat, and his wife. The girl was born at 2 pm on Wednesday in Lahore’s Jinnah Hospital and was kidnapped at 9 pm on the same day.
The newborn was reportedly in the hospital room with her mother and grandmother when a woman in a black veil came inside. The woman told the mother that the infant needed to have vaccination administered to her, then she took the baby and never returned, according to a statement released by the mother, the police added.
After going through CCTV footage and Safe City cameras, the police has apprehended a rickshaw driver, who was seen in the footage, and has been taken into custody by the police. The rickshaw driver had previously dropped the woman off at Daroghawala area and returned to Jinnah Hospital for unknown reasons.
According to the investigation, the rickshaw driver also works as a security guard at the same hospital.
The medical staff of Jinnah Hospital has constructed a three-member team to investigate the incident.
