The Directorate of Passport and Immigration has officially denied recent rumors about another hike in passport fees, assuring the public that there has been no new increase beyond the one announced earlier this year.
In a statement, a spokesperson for the Directorate clarified that the recent news about an additional increase in passport fees is false. The last fee adjustment was made on March 7, 2024, and there have been no changes since then. The spokesperson urged citizens to disregard any misleading information circulating online.
The spokesperson also addressed the fees associated with lost passports. In the event of the first loss, the fee for a replacement passport in the normal category is 9,000 PKR. However, in the case of a second or third loss, the fee will increase, with charges doubling or tripling based on the number of lost passports.
The Directorate emphasized that passport fees are determined by category and duration, with separate rates for 36, 72, and 100-page passports. The public is strongly advised to ignore any unverified news about further increases in passport fees, as the current rates remain unchanged since March. For accurate and updated information, citizens are encouraged to visit the official website of the Directorate of Passport and Immigration.
