Finance Minister Asad Umar said that Pakistan is in no rush to get the International Monetary Fund or IMF loan.
Asad Umar elaborated about IMF loan program and said that government has no urgency right now to avail IMF bailout. He said that they are in discussion with IMF and when the government will reach the suitable plan that is in the Pakistan’s economy interest, then government will go ahead to avail the IMF loan.
Asad Umar highlighted that the pressure to rush a deal with IMF had eased with the recent combination of bilateral financial support from historical allies and a host of economic measures taken by govt in its first hundred days in power.
Finance Minister said that the recent support has resulted in a current account deficit of $6-7 billion less than the previous financial year. He further added that the funding from “friendly countries” would help shore up the economy over the remainder of the current financial year.
