The oath taking ceremony of newly elected MNAs will be held today in the inaugural session of the 15th National Assembly at 10 am at the Parliament House in Islamabad.
Outgoing Speaker of the National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq will administer oath to the MNA-elects.
The oath taking ceremony of the newly elected Sindh, Baluchistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) assemblies will also be convened today.
On the other hand, Punjab Assembly session is scheduled for August 15 after the Independence Day.
Elections for Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly will be held on August 15 2018.
President Mamnoon Hussain has approved the National Assembly’s first session for August 13. He made this decision on the request of caretaker prime minister Justice (Retd) Nasir-ul-Mulk.
This oath taking ceremony will mark the third consecutive democratic transfer of power in Pakistan.
PM selection subject to nomination papers’ submission
Prime Minister selection is subject to submission of nomination papers on August 16.
If it is done as per the schedule, then the process will be completed by the evening on the same day. Otherwise, the PM selection will be done on the morning of August 17.
The newly elected Prime Minister’s oath-taking ceremony is slated for August 18, at the President House.
Once the allotment of general seats was finalized, those reserved seats for women and minorities were also allocated to the political parties.
Security Arrangements on Top Notch
Security arrangements have been finalized from Bani Gala to Parliament house, sources confirmed. Additional measures will also be implemented for the NA session.
According to sources, the security in the district, including the red zone areas, will be on “red alert”, and only people with special passes will be allowed into the Parliament.
Police and Rangers have been deployed in the area. No random person would be let into the red zone.
