Pakistan airspace closed for India effective immediately, restricting both commercial and military aircraft from entering Pakistani airspace. This decision follows India’s announcement to withdraw from the historic Indus Waters Treaty, sparking strong diplomatic reactions.
According to an official NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) issued by the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority, the ban will remain in force from April 24 to May 23, 2025. All Indian-registered aircraft, whether operated by Indian airlines or other carriers based in India, are barred from using Pakistan’s air routes. The restriction also includes all Indian military flights.
This move is seen as a significant step in the rising tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors. The development is expected to affect international flight paths and commercial schedules as Indian airlines are now forced to reroute their long-haul operations.
With Pakistan shutting its airspace for Indian aircraft, travel and trade routes between the two countries face yet another hurdle.
